144 petrol tankers diversion: Kano IPMAN says report malicious

The leadership of the Kano wing of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has on Wednesday described the recent report that about 144 tankers loaded with petroleum products meant for supply in Katsina and Kano, were diverted and recovered by security operatives as being concocted and maliciously manipulated to satisfy the perpetrators wish.

Addressing newsmen in the state, IPMAN state chairman Alhaji Bashir Ahmad Danmanlam stated that, the association has been doing it best since when it noticed signs of long queues in some filling stations. He added that, the news that the association members have diverted about 144 tankers is a false claim which he said is selfishly motivated to thwart all efforts done by authorities concern to end the scarcity in the state.

“I read with admonishment that 144 tankers were recovered from our members that have diverted petrol meant for Kano and Katsina, I asked to be shown these tankers and up till this moment no one was willing to do so. 144 tankers are not 144 litres, people should learn to understand what to believe. However, the association has commenced investigation on where the fake story emanated from for proper address,” said Danmalam.

The chairman added that,  the department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) that has the mandate to ensure adherence to set regulations in the fuel dispensing business claimed ignorant of the said recovery.
