GenesysIGNITE in collaboration with CFAtech.ng has commenced a search for technology entrepreneurs through its Genesys Tech Hub conference.
“It is important to state that close to 1,000 participants have already registered to participate in this remarkable event, which holds on December 15, 2017 in Enugu,” CFAtech.ng said in a statement on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, industry players said that the development was timely, as the search would ensure that young people in various parts of Nigeria were given opportunities to also grow.
An expert in tech entrepreneurship, Chukwuemeka Agbata, was quoted as saying, “It is interesting to note that a total of 147 start-ups entered for the competition and at the end of the day, nine of them were selected to pitch before a panel of judges.”
Speaking ahead of the selection process, the Founder of Genesys Tech Hub, Kingsley Eze, expressed confidence in the judges, saying, “We believe that the expertise and integrity of the judges will also boost the credibility of the selection process.”
He added, “The presence of the judges would also inspire the selected and invited start-ups as well as the SouthEast tech community in general.”
The start-ups selected to pitch before the panel of judges are Touchabl pictures; Barter9ja; House of Uwe; Uzaali; Playjoor; Gallantry Sphere; Matta; Tutor Finder and Farm Market.
The company said the winners would be announced on December 15, 2017 during the event.
The Managing Director of Genesys Tech Hub, Nnamdi Anika, who was part of the pre-selection team, said, “The quality of start-ups that entered for the competition is quite encouraging but what many of them need is a structured way of nurturing their ventures, which is exactly what we are providing at our incubation centre.”
GenesysIGNITE is an annual South-East start-up convergence that seeks to congregate young entrepreneurs/start-ups and innovation hubs from all parts of the South-East and the South South regions.
