Prices of kerosene, diesel increase in October–NBS

The National Bureau of aStatistics has said that Average price per litre paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased by N9 or 3.39 percent to N273.44 in October 2017 from N264.48 in September 2017. The NBS revealed this in its National Household Kerosene and Automotive gas oil prices watch report, October, 2017. Similarly, the bureau noted that the average price per gallon paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased by 6.31 percent    month-on-month (M o M) and by 8.34 percent Year on Year, YoY to N1,035.12 in October 2017 from N973.72 in September same year. Data from the bureau also showed that the average price paid by consumers of automotive gas oil (diesel) increased by 9.28 percent M oM and 7.85 percent YoY to N201.96 in October 2017 from N184.80 in September 2017. The report stated that states with the highest average price per litre of kerosene were Oyo (N324.76), Borno (N323.61) and Rivers (N320.37).

While states with the lowest average price per litre of kerosene were Osun (N233.33), Ondo (N237.50) and Enugu (N237.78). The report further said that states with the highest average price per gallon of kerosene were Adamawa (N1, 185.83), Benue (N1, 175) Ondo (N1, 160) while states with the lowest average price per litre of kerosene were Lagos (N912.11), Sokoto (N918.33) and Anambra (N927). On the price of diesel, the report showed that states with the highest price of diesel were Jigawa (N222.08), Zamfara    (N218.75), and Adamawa (N217.50)    and states with the lowest average price of diesel were Cross River (N190.29), Delta (N190.06) and Borno (N189.69) Meanwhile, the NBS selected food price watch data for October 2017 reflected that the average price of 1 dozen of agric eggs medium size increased y-o-y by 0.02 percent and decreased M oM by -3.01 percent to N472.85 in October 2017 from N487.51 recorded in September 2017. According to the bureau,  the average price of a piece of agric egg medium size(price of one) increased y-o-y by 0.08 percent and decreased M oM by – 7.99 percent    to N42.06 in October 2017 from N45.72 in September 2017. The data also showed that the average price of 1kg of tomato increased YoY by 4.37 percent and decreased M oM by 9.57 percent to N291.53 in October 2017 from N322.39 recorded in September same year. The data further revealed that the average price of 1kg of rice (imported high quality sold loose) decreased Y o Y by 5.12percent and m-o-m by 7.31 percent to N368.90 in October 2017 from N398.01 in September 2017.
